I LOVE chocolate cake, and what I love even more, is being lazy, like extremely lazy. Life doesn’t usually work out perfectly though, so I can’t be lazy all the time. BUT, if there’s a chance to take the easy way out, and eat chocolate cake, I take it, so I made a chocolate mug cake recipe.
Note: I use chocolate chips in this recipe, but you can also use cocoa powder if you prefer.
Preparation time: 4 minutes Microwave Time: 1 – 1.5 minutes (However it may differ according to your microwave power) Total Time: 5 – 5.5 minutes
Ingredients!
Mug Cake –
- 3/4 Tablespoon of butter
- 1/3 Cup of flour
- 1/8 Cup Of Sugar
- 2-3 Handfuls of chocolate chips (I used semi-sweet for the amount of sugar, and you can add more or less chips if you’d like)
- 1/6 Teaspoon of baking powder
- A couple pinches of salt (I used iodized)
- 2 1/2 Tablespoons of milk
- 2/3 Tablespoon of Milk (This is separate from the other one)
- 1/6 Teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 Egg yolk
- A splash of water
Icing –
- 3 Tablespoons of butter (softened)
- 3 1/2 Tablespoons of powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 Teaspoons of milk
- 1/8 Teaspoon of vanilla extract
- In a mug, melt the butter.
- Mix in the 2 1/2 tablespoons of milk, splash of water, egg yolk, and vanilla extract.
- In separate bowl mix dry ingredients(flour, sugar, baking powder, salt).
- In a small bowl or ramekin, put in your chocolate chips and the 2/3 tablespoon of milk.
- Microwave the chocolate until melted (about 30-45 seconds for me), mix to ensure that it’s a smooth consistency.
- Mix chocolate into the cake mix, and make sure everything is smooth and well-mixed.
- Microwave for 1 minute
- Mix vanilla extract, milk, powdered/confectioners sugar, and butter to make icing.
- Microwave longer if needed
- Enjoy!
